Key Stage 3 (Years 7–9) · Science
Acids and alkalis
Pupils explore acids and alkalis, using pH as a measure of acidity, identifying common acids and bases, and learning neutralisation reactions and salt formation. They use indicators and pH probes, understand safety when handling chemicals, and relate pH to everyday contexts such as soils and digestion. Practical work includes testing solutions and carrying out neutralisation experiments.
