Key Stage 3 (Years 7–9) · Languages
Vocabulary
Pupils expand vocabulary across thematic topics such as family, school, leisure, food and travel by learning word families, collocations, high‑frequency verbs and useful phrases, and by practising retrieval strategies, mnemonic devices and spaced repetition. They work on pronunciation, gender and plural forms where relevant, and on using vocabulary in context through speaking and writing tasks to build automaticity. Curricular progression emphasises breadth, depth and accuracy.
