Spoken language

At Key Stage 3 pupils develop spoken language skills including planning and delivering presentations, participating in discussions and debates, using standard English and adapting register, and employing spoken techniques such as intonation, emphasis and rhetorical questioning. They learn active listening, responding with reasoned argument, and using planning and rehearsal to shape meaning and purpose.
