Key Stage 3 (Years 7–9) · Design & technology
Designing
Pupils develop designing skills that combine user-centred research, specification writing, ideation and iterative sketching to solve real-world problems; they learn to generate and develop concepts using annotated sketches, modelling and simple decision matrices, and to consider sustainability, ergonomics and manufacturing constraints. They practise communicating ideas with labelled drawings, exploded diagrams and basic CAD.
