Key Stage 3 (Years 7–9) · Design & technology
CAD/CAM
Pupils learn computer-aided design and manufacture, using CAD software to create 2D and basic 3D models, apply dimensions and tolerances, and generate CAM files for laser cutting, CNC routing or 3D printing; they understand file types, nesting and material implications for manufacture, and the iterative cycle of digital prototyping. Emphasis is on precision, reproducibility and linking digital designs to physical production.
