Spelling
Pupils learn spelling patterns and rules such as prefixes, suffixes, plurals and common homophones, practise the statutory word lists, develop strategies for learning new words and apply morphology and etymology to spelling choices. They practise spelling through dictated sentences, word lists, root word families and exception words, building accuracy and stamina.
