GCSE (Years 10–11) · English & literacy

Shakespeare

Pupils explore Shakespearean plays by analysing themes, characterisation, dramatic structure, language features such as iambic pentameter, blank verse, imagery and rhetorical devices, and contextual influences like historical and social setting; they learn to interpret soliloquies, stagecraft and relationships between characters while supporting readings with textual evidence and literary terminology.
