Key Stage 2 (Years 3–6) · Science
Living things and their habitats
Pupils classify living things into broad groups such as plants, animals, microorganisms and use classification keys to identify local species, learning about habitats, food chains and interdependence. They study adapted features that help organisms survive in different environments and investigate local ecosystems, human impacts and conservation. Fieldwork skills include sampling, recording observations, constructing food webs and using data to support explanations about biodiversity.
