Everyday materials
Pupils explore a variety of everyday materials such as wood, metal, plastic, glass, fabric and rock, learning to identify and name them and to describe simple properties like hard/soft, transparent/opaque and flexible/rigid. They carry out hands-on sorting and testing activities to compare materials and begin to use simple vocabulary to explain observations.
