Multiplication and division
Pupils begin to understand multiplication as repeated addition and arrays and division as sharing and grouping; they learn 2, 5 and 10 times tables, make equal groups, and solve simple correspondence and word problems. Key skills include recognising patterns, using repeated addition and simple halving, and vocabulary such as times, groups of and share.
