Key Stage 2 (Years 3–6) · Languages

Speaking and listening

At KS2 pupils develop spoken language skills for increasingly confident communication, learning to take turns, ask and answer questions, pronounce unfamiliar words, give short presentations and adapt language for different audiences and purposes. They practise listening for gist and detail, using strategies to infer meaning and respond appropriately, and build conversational fluency through role play and pair work.
