Map skills and grid references
Pupils learn to read and use maps at a range of scales, interpret grid references and compass bearings, understand scale and map symbols, and use OS-style map conventions and atlases for navigation and spatial awareness. They practise skills such as measuring distance, using four- and six-figure grid references, and creating sketch maps and annotated plans.
