Key Stage 3 (Years 7–9) · Music

Elements of music

Pupils consolidate understanding of the elements of music—pitch, rhythm, tempo, dynamics, timbre, texture and structure—and apply these when performing, composing and analysing pieces. They learn to spot how these elements create character and affect audience response, and to use appropriate terminology to describe musical choices.
