Notation
Pupils consolidate basic notation skills including reading and writing note values (minim, crotchet, quaver), rests, simple time signatures, clefs, pitch on the stave and basic key signatures, as well as using symbols for tempo and dynamics. They practise transcribing melodies, clapping and performing rhythms from notation, and using graphic or simple staff notation to communicate ideas.
