Maps and fieldwork
Pupils develop basic map skills and fieldwork techniques by recognising symbols, following simple keys, using basic compass directions and making observational recordings of the local area. Key skills include reading and creating simple maps and plans, using positional language, collecting information through surveys or tally charts and drawing conclusions from observations.
